UK secondary students are not infrequently deprived of opportunities for advanced studies in the mathematical sciences that transcend - in depth and rigour - the scope of the A-level syllabus. The Society of the Holy Handmaidens of Christ, Crucified (or Christ Hospital) is the first attempt in the UK at such an enterprise. Exceptional students who have completed the GCSE syllabus may be considered for enrolment in advanced modules in all disciplines of the Quadrivium and Trivium, as well as a variety of languages, both ancient and modern. Humanities instruction is based in the Graeco-Roman classics, and (as has been consonant with the traditions of Oxbridge until quite recently) facility with the Latin and Greek languages must be obtained. Mathematical modules are tutored by some of the world's leading experts - winners of the Russian Mathematical Olympiad, the Asian-Pacific Olympiad, and tenured faculty at world-leading institutions of higher education. Laboratory sciences are conducted by nationally renowned tutors who studied at Oxbridge, Imperial College, MIT, and similar institutions. Computer science is tutored by leading data scientists, statisticians, and consultants for economic institutes in the UK, USA, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, India, and other countries. Statistics is tutored by some of the finest research statisticians in Mathematical Statistics, Epidemiology, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Quantum Computing. Over 100 modules spanning the gamut of Pure and Applied maths are on offer. Additional modules from the Rao Centre (see below) are also available for students of sufficient mathematical maturity.
The Rao Centre is the UK's first dedicated secondary centre of excellence for the study of Mathematical Statistics. With an offering of over 30 modules in Statistics, students are permitted to explore the most difficult and rewarding frontiers of the subject under the tutelage of world-leading experts. Dual-enrollment with Harvard Mathematical Institute is possible for students desiring advanced tuition in Computer Science, Pure Mathematics, Mathematical Analysis, and Physical Sciences with relevance to statistical content. Students may follow Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Theory of Computation, and Pure Statistics under this paradigm. Note that US universities charge nontrivial tuition fees, and remission for some or all of these fees may not be available under the UK study-abroad funding schemes. Every effort will be made to procure appropriate funding for sufficiently advanced matriculants, but such funding is issued on a basis of availability and is not guaranteed.
