The MAGIC consortium is a group of preeminent mathematics departments located throughout the UK that have combined efforts to produce excellent scholarship in all topics of pure mathematics. Unlike the regional consortia, MAGIC is truly an international operation, drawing the brightest minds from across the Russell Group in one united consortium. Topics of expertise include Algebraic and Analytic Number Theory; Ergodic Theory; Manifolds and Geometry of Groups; Functional Analysis; Harmonic Analysis; Theory of Commutative Rings; and Module Theory. Recently, MAGIC has expanded to include world-leading research in String Theory (leading to discoveries in ADS->CFT duality and Yang-Mills) and Operator Algebras, the latter of which has led to fundamental advances in Statistical and Quantum Mechanics. Advanced doctoral students in Mathematics, Physics, or Philosophy may benefit from lectures or examinations, in which case the relevant MAGIC administrator may be contacted at the link above. The MAGIC Consortium is not affiliated with Athanasian Hall, but Fellows of Athanasian Hall may apply for subsidized membership at the MAGIC Consortium at a greatly discounted rate.
